Vienna Public Library was established by the Vienna Woman’s Club in 1954 and reorganized under an independent Board of Trustees through the City of Vienna in 1973. Vienna Public Library’s mission is to provide people of all ages free access to diverse library materials, programs and services.
The primary geographic area served is Wood County, population 87,986. The library also serves patrons from Washington County and surrounding West Virginia counties.
The mission of the Vienna Public Library is to improve the quality of life for all citizens of our community by providing, in the most efficient manner possible, resources that enhance and contribute to individual knowledge, enlightenment and enjoyment. The Board of Trustees and the staff will work together to serve the public and respond to the changing nature of library services.
Vienna Public Library is over 11,800 square feet of cozy and quiet reading areas. We house over 50,000 books, 10,000 audio books, movies and Play-A-Ways. Vienna Public Library currently subscribes to 72 magazines and newspapers.
We have a computer lab with 8 public computers and color printer in place. Wireless Internet service is also available throughout the library.
Our children’s library has a large, comfortable reading area and a table game area. Our newest addition is our Early Learning Station for ages 2-12. We have 3 workstations that are preloaded with over 37 early learning software programs.
Our meeting room is available free of charge, to any group whose purposes contribute to the civic, cultural, educational or economic advancement of the community. Audio visual equipment is also available with the room’s reservation. Patrons can now rent the meeting room for private parties at $10 an hour - contact the front desk for more information!
